Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, is to launch flights between Muscat, the Omani capital and Kathmandu, from 2 September 2010.

Kathmandu is the 40th destination in the Oman Air network and will be operated with a Boeing 737-700 aircraft offering Business and Economy Class cabins.

Peter Hill, CEO, Oman Air said, "Kathmandu is a much awaited destination and Oman Air would like to extend its customers in the region the opportunity to experience one of the most naturally beautiful landscapes in the world. Furthermore, in addition to the strong demand for flights from Nepalese nationals who work in Oman and further afield, we expect to see significant corporate and leisure traffic, which is important to the economic development of Nepal. Oman Air is pleased to support this growth with its new services."

Oman Air (WY) will operate the new route 4 times per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Flights will depart Muscat at 11:40 arriving in Kathmandu at 17:05 (local time). From Kathmandu the flight will depart at 18:05 to arrive in Muscat at 20:45 (local time).

These timings, will offer convenient connections to other destinations such as Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai in the U.A.E. as well as to a range of other GCC and European destinations.
