Suvarnabhumi, Thailand's largest airport, has signed a sister airport agreement with Japan's Narita International Airport to exchange airport management expertise and experience to promote expanded aviation business between them in a bid to become leading global airports, said Serirat Prasutanond, president of the Airports of Thailand (AoT).
Mr Serirat said the agreement was signed early this month between Suvarnabhumi Airport, located in Bangkok's neighbouring province of Samut Prakan, with Narita International Airport, one of the leading international airports in Asia.
The agreement will also allow both airports to build more networks to expand their marketing, Mr Serirat said.
Under the agreement, senior executives of both airports will meet at least once annually to discuss ways of market development activities, expanded aviation routes and exchange staff for joint training, he said.
To date, Suvarnabhumi airport has completed similar agreements with Germany's Munich Airport, ranked as Europe's number one facility, and South Korea's Incheon International Airport, which has been ranked first in Asia for five consecutive years.
