Nick Porter has been appointed as the general manager of The St. Regis Shanghai following the promotion of the former general manager, Amanda Elder, to vice president of sales for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Having previously worked in Starwood Hotels and Resorts in Chengdu, China; Langkawi, Malaysia; and Bali, Indonesia; he most recently held the position of general manager of Sheraton Xiamen Hotel. A native of the UK, Porter has a bachelor's degree in Chinese and Asian Studies from the University of Copenhagen, and he speaks fluent Chinese and Danish.
