China Airlines will launch scheduled passenger services between Taipei, Taiwan and London, England, starting on March 28. The new flights, CI-069 from Taipei to London, and CI-070 from London to Taipei, will operate three times per week, using an advanced Airbus A340-300 aircraft, configured with 30 business-class seats and 246 economy-class seats. This exclusive non-stop service to London Heathrow Airport highlights CAL's commitment to the European market, and provides passengers with greater flexibility in their travels between Taiwan and London, and onward to other destinations in Europe.

With the inauguration of the new London non-stop route, China Airlines will increase its number of European destinations to five, with a total of 21 flights to Europe per week. In addition to London, China Airlines provides non-stop services to Frankfurt and Vienna, while its Amsterdam flights stop over in Bangkok, and its Rome flights stop over in Delhi. CAL also serves Prague via a code-share agreement with Czech Airlines, and it serves Hamburg, Hanover, Stuttgart, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Nuremburg and Munich through a landmark code-share agreement with rail operator ICE Germany.

As Britain began granting six-month visa-free entry for Taiwanese passport holders on March 3, 2009, encouraging more Taiwanese to travel to the UK, the new London service is not only timely, but also enhances the relationship between the two destinations.
