Diageo trials Johnnie Walker Double Black in duty-free

The deluxe variant of Johnnie Walker Black Label will be available at six airport locations over a five-month test period.

Liquor supplier Diageo Global Travel and Middle East (GTME) is trialling a new variant of Johnnie Walker Black Label in duty-free before rolling it out globally. The Johnnie Walker Double Black blended Scotch whisky will be available at six airport locations - Bangkok Suvarnabhumi with King Power International, Dubai International with Dubai Duty Free, Beirut International with Beirut Duty Free, New York John F Kennedy with International Shoppes, Singapore Changi with DFS Group and Sydney International with The Nuance Group - over a five-month test period.

The new product amplifies the smokiness of Black Label and is aimed at drinkers who already appreciate the character of Johnnie Walker whiskies and want to explore it in more depth, according to Diageo. The Johnnie Walker Double Black blend is created using peaty West Coast whiskies and the 1l bottle will retail at a price premium to Black Label.
