China Airlines has been appointed as the official carrier of the World Games 2009, which will be held in 23 venues in Kaohsiung between July 16 and 26. China Airlines not only provides discount tickets for Athletes and their family members, but also sponsors T-MAX, the popular Korean singing group, to come to Taiwan to perform at the World Games opening ceremony.
China Airlines Chairman Philip H.H. Wei and President H.H. Sun have been invited to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies, and they will present two economy-class tickets from Taiwan to any destination in Asia as a lucky draw prize for the games. Moreover, China Airlines and travel agencies will also jointly offer a series of tour packages between July 15 and July 26 in the World Games Plaza.
As Taiwan's largest airline, China Airlines has dedicated to support Taiwan tourism for many years, and in the process has helped generate valuable publicity for the island's attractions. For example, China Airlines signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Giant Bicycles in April, to promote Taiwan as a 'Cycling Paradise.' With its appointment as the official carrier of the World Games 2009, China Airlines will continue to support and encourage tourism to Taiwan.
