Accor has mobilized its work force and local communities in Korea for Earth Guest Day. Accor hotels’ employees in destinations such as Seoul, Busan, and Daegu, joined forces to help improve the environment by conducting beach and river clean-up campaigns around this year’s theme, which is "water". These actions involved local communities in the area to increase the outcomes.
In Seoul, five Accor hotels including Sofitel Ambassador Seoul, Novotel Ambassador Gangnam, Novotel Ambassador Doksan, ibis Seoul, and ibis Myeong-Dong, along with the nearby ibis Suwon, in partnership with Guro Ward Office and Dukdo Arisu Water Treatment Center, participated in "The Beautiful Water Day". The one-day activity involved an educational tour through Dukdo Arisu Water Treatment Center to learn how we are able to help preserve water and garbage collection and clean-up around Anyang-Chun stream, which flows through seven cities of Gyeonggi province and seven autonomous districts of Seoul metropolitan and is commonly used as a recreational public space.
All the hotels also display some posters in the public areas of the hotels and provide a flyer in the guestrooms in order to emphasize the importance of water preservation.
Novotel Daegu also conducted a clean-up of the Shincheon Stream, an inland basin beautifully surrounded by mountains. In the south province of Busan, Novotel Busan arranged a placard, pamphlets, and cleaning tools to clean up a portion of Haeundae beach, the most popular beach in South Korea, and in the process, raise awareness of water preservation among the local community.
