The start of the Zurich Marathon is on the motorway in Zurich Manegg. The route leads through the new Uetliberg tunnel for the first time this year. After the turning point, the race route leads back through the tunnel, via Allmendstrasse, Giesshubelstrasse, Utobrucke bridge, Bederstrasse, Genferstrasse, General-Guisan-Quai, Burkliplatz and Quaibrucke bridge to the Bellevue.
From there, the route first leads alongside Lake Zurich through densely populated urban areas, then through the old town and past some significant sites and tourist attractions within the city of Zurich. The beautifully varied route has almost no ascents, with less than 30 metres of climbing, making possible fast race times.
Spectators and athletes can expect numerous festivities in the lakeside towns, as well as a large marquee and a children's paradise in the Landiwiese meadow.
