Visit Denmark has celebrated the achievement of Copenhagen's restaurants in the 2009 Michelin Guide, with a total of 14 stars awarded across the city.
This rating places the Danish capital ahead of other destinations in Europe including Rome, Vienna, Berlin and Madrid.
Noma, a restaurant specialising in creating contemporary versions of traditional Nordic dishes, was the only establishment in Copenhagen to receive two stars in this year's guide.
Restaurant Herman at the Hotel NIMB in Tivoli Gardens was one of the new additions to the Michelin Guide in 2009, along with Restaurant Kokkeriet in the Nyboder district.
Tivoli Gardens is now in the position of being the only amusement park to boast two Michelin-starred restaurants on its premises, according to Visit Denmark.
The tourism agency announced the opening earlier this year of the Konserthuset music hall, which was designed by Jean Nouvel and described as "a new architectural landmark for the capital".
