The focus of ITB Berlin 2011 will be on Poland, the future official partner country of the leading trade show.
“The choice of 2011 is no coincidence. A year later Poland will be the venue for the European football championships - and naturally we also want to make use of ITB Berlin as a forum to present ourselves as the hosts of this major event“, said President of the Polish Tourism Organisation Rafal Szmytke, underlining the close ties with his German neighbours.
“Establishing Poland as an international travel destination is also a consistent part of our marketing strategy. As the official partner country of ITB Berlin 2011 we will be sending out a clear signal to the world.”
Dr. Martin Buck, Director of ITB Berlin: “Poland has been represented at ITB Berlin on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds since 1971, making it a pioneer of tourism marketing in the East.
“Poland’s involvement as the official partner country of ITB Berlin 2011 means that it will not only attract considerable interest from the German media and visitors, but also greater international attention.
“ITB Berlin is the ideal platform for demonstrating to future tourists that Poland has become an even more attractive travel destination since it joined the European Union on 1 May 2004.
“The grey uniformity of the Socialist era has given way to colourful diversity. Beautiful, pristine landscapes, vast cultural treasures, the legendary hospitality of our people, as well as good value for money, make Poland an attractive and increasingly popular holiday destination.”
As the partner country of ITB Berlin 2011 Poland will organise the opening ceremonies on 8 March 2011 in the International Congress Centrum (ICC) Berlin, and during the fair will be a host of cultural events and presenter of culinary delights.
